Last night Danny and I went out to a house warming party. It was so much fun. I got out my camera and took a bunch of pictures. I put up an album on Facebook.
On the way to the party we had a few options about how to get to the house. A bus, a taxi, walking, or a tuk-tuk. Danny and I tried to get a taxi but the driver didn’t want to go to our destination because he had another fare and we would take him too far out of the way for him. So we walked up to the road to try another option. We saw a tuk-tuk and we showed her the map and asked how much. she said 60 baht. Most of the guy tuk-tuk drivers want a minimum of 100-150 baht. So we said yes and hopped in. The ride was scary and the vehicle felt like it was going to tip over. But we stayed upright and eventually got to our destination. I say eventually because on our way out we started off by missing the first turn right to go the most direct route. Then we stopped and looked at the map after going to a big main road that takes us back to the right area. At this point Danny is trying to ask me questions that don’t pertain to getting us to our destination. He gets frustrated that the driver doesn’t know where she is going and I am trying to get us to the right spot. So we continue even thought None of know exactly how to get to our destination. The directions we got were people traveling from the other direction and when we got onto the right road we where already past our destination and couldn’t figure out if the 7/11 we pasted was the 1st of 2nd of the 2 we needed to pass to follow the right directions. So… It was the 3rd 7/11 on the road that we pasted first. We then went up an dead end road with lots of Soi Dogs. We almost hit a few dogs. But everyone stayed safe and no dogs got run over. I wanted to go back because I looked at the map and saw that we were very close and we could just walk if we got out back a few turns from where we were. So we go back I pay the driver 100 baht because the trip was way longer than she thought and she did get us close. So we get out and walk back to make a phone call. Then the driver talks to a security guard and (asked where there was someone who spoke english that could help us get to our destination) I only figure this out after we get back in the vehicle and she takes us to someones house who gets out and speaks english to us. That is when I call the house party and we get directions back to where we were when I said we can walk. Then I called back and we did eventually walk to the right place from the first stop that I said ok we can walk from here. The driver was very good about making sure we got to our destination.
After the party we walked to an area that had taxis going by and decided against walking all the way home. I only had to repeat the address to the driver twice. I must be getting better at saying our address.
