April 2014 we decided to start our Family. That decision has taken us through a few countries and over 2.5 years.
In Thailand for two years we tried a few medical procedures to help conceive. They didn’t work and I felt like I was being ripped off.
A summer in England lots of flower shows and a gluten free diet seemed to be what we needed to get this baby started.
+ + + 3 tests later the husband felt he could start to plan for a baby. September 1st the sickness started and lasted until April 8th. April 8th Miranda was born.
The midwife and Obgyn informed me that having a home birth was not recommended for a person with preeclampsia. I had preeclampsia so ended up going to the hospital for the birthing.
When the midwife informed me that the obstetrician wanted to medically induce the birthing on Wednesday I said, “No, this baby is coming before Wednesday.”
How I tried to induce my birthing in two days.
evening primrose oil 1000mg orally in the morning 1000mg vaginally in the evening before bed.
A large can of pineapple juice.
Spicy chinese food
Special “alone” time
on Friday at 5pm we finished the Spicy food and drove home. My cervical mucus made an appearance when I got home.
Saturday morning, 3 am I woke up to an urgent bathroom visit. I had liquid diarrhea.
I failed trying to go back to sleep. At 4am I felt a pop and a small gush of water while I lay in bed. At first I thought it was my bladder failing but I didn’t feel the urgency to pee so I had second thoughts about why the water filled my poise pad. I called my midwife at 4:15am
around 5 am my midwife arrived and tested the pad for amniotic fluid. The test was positive. I got an IV put in and signed out of the hospital.
After collecting all the items for the midwives cocktail I drank the strange and yummy drink at 11 am. My contractions started at 1pm. The timeline is a bit blurry for me from then onward. My midwife was there then she wasn’t…I went into the shower after getting the suggestion from my Doula…I went to the bath… at some point my birthing partner arrived and my doula also arrived…my brother left to go get the video cameras to film the birth…we were supposed to go to the hospital for 4:30 but left early due to me feeling my baby’s head two knuckles (1/2 a finger) in through my anus.. I rode ass facing the windshield the whole way to the hospital. 4 pm and 3 contractions on the way to the birthing room…10 more on video and on the 11th contraction on the birthing bed Miranda was born at 5:04pm. I was encouraged to push to reduce the labour time to reduce any complications regarding preeclampsia. I ended up with stitches due to some tearing, I got our two hours of skin to skin after birthing, Mira latched on both breasts within the first 10 minutes. Danny got to watch via Skype from Kuwait. 2/3rd of my bridal crew was in the birthing room filming the birth in addition to my brother with his camera. Everybody got to see my bottom and my horrendous hemorrhoids. Mira shot out without turning I ended up continuing to push until well past her ribs. I was very happy to have birthed her. I said “yay” when I stopped pushing. Today, Miranda Belle Guerrard is 1 month old!
Miranda has an ever changing face. She reminds me of many people. I am so excited and happy to see her grow into her own person. We love you little person. Welcome to our world. You are our world!
Happy Mothers Day Mom!!! Thanks for making me. I’m glad you are here to share this time with us.
